I have completed the Reading Academy for House Bill 3 in Texas. I am also certified to teach ESL.
I have been teaching at LCE for 6 years. The first four years were PE and the last 2 are 3rd grade ELAR and Social Studies.
My first year to teach school was the 1984-85 school year. I was in Boyd, Texas at the Middle School. My assignment was 6-8 PE and 7-8 Math. I did not teach the 1985-86 school year because I gave birth to my oldest daughter. When the 1986-87 school year began, I taught first grade for the Krum ISD and my son was born in January of 1987. From there, my family moved to Tulia, Texas where my youngest daughter was born in 1988. I was a stay at home mom until 1991. From 1991-1998 I taught PE and second grade for the Tulia ISD. In 1998 my family moved to Hobbs, NM where I taught fifth and first grades from 1998-2008. From 2008-2010, I did not work because my husband and I moved to Alabama. In 2010 we returned to Texas and found ourselves in Orange. I taught several grade levels and PE at Community Christian School in Orange until this year.
I am very happy to be at LCE. I taught 4 years PE and now I am on my second year as a 3rd grade ELAR and Social Studies teacher.
My husband Brad and I were married January 2, 1982 in Denton, Texas, so we have been married for 36 years. Brad is the Worship Pastor at North Orange Baptist Church. We have three amazing children. Abby is our oldest at 35. She is an amazing vocalist and pianist. She jus got married in July 2018. Our son, Kyle, is 33 and lives with us with his boys. He is an amazing athlete and guitarist. Our youngest child, Emily, is 32 and is a CPA for EY accounting firm. She is a joy. Our children are all talented in music and sports so I would say they got the best of both of their parents. My grandsons are Thomas, 4 years old and Mick 3 years old. I also have a granddaughter Ella, that is 16 months old.
My husband and I have two dogs, Jack and Bear. They are five years old but are big dogs so we sometimes forget how young they are. They are very sweet and are a wonderful part of our family.
We are also grandparents to Thomas Kyle Holmes. He is a great joy in our lives. Thomas has a brother named Michael Robert Holmes, we call him Mick. Ella Michelle is our newest grandchild.
My husband and I love to go hiking. We have been to many National and State Parks in the US on camping and hiking trips. I like to jog, and walk for exercise. I am a vegetarian and try not to eat processed foods so I can be as healthy as possible. I like to read and go to Bible studies with my friends.
HGTV is my favorite channel because I like to see and attemp DIY projects. I usually give my husband an idea and he does the work.
